Cate Downey Releases New Single “Boulder”

The song “Boulder” was written and produced by Cate Downey and fellow LIMPI classmate and producer Alton Sato. When it came to the production, both Cate and Alton wanted to be experimental with the sonics of the song. The intro was inspired by “Dirty AF1s” by Alexander 23. “I wanted the song to sound the way that Boulder makes me feel. Overall, I think this song is about moving on and learning to accept the changes that come with it.”

Cate Downey is an eighteen year old Pop and Folk Independent Artist and Songwriter from Denver, Colorado. She has been singing and songwriting her whole life primarily in the pop and folk genre.

In early May of 2019, Cate was accepted into the Lillehammer Institute of Music Production and Industries where she has been lucky enough to spend the past year learning from industry professionals and working with upcoming artists from around the world. During her year there, she has had the chance to learn and write in all genres ranging from EDM to Pop to R&B and even some Country! While she has spent most of the past year writing for other artist projects, she is currently in the beginning stages of releasing her own music as an independent artist using the influence of the many different artists and styles to inspire her writing.

Cate’s song “Boulder” will be released on Tuesday, April 14, 2020. The indie pop song was all made in one day in a bedroom! There will be songs to follow with a similar soundscape.
